1 In the name of God Amen the ninth day of March, An(n)o Do(mi)ni, 1631 And in the seaventh

2 yeare of the raigne of o(u)r sov(er)aigne Lord Charles by the grace of God kinge of England

3 Scotland ffraunce and Ireland defendor of the faith etc I Edmond Watts of hawly in

4 the parish of Yately in the County of South Carpenter beinge sick in body but of

5 perfect mind and memory praysed be Almighty God therfore doe make and ordaine this my

6 Last will and Testament in mannor and forme followinge, ffirst and principally I comitt and

7 com(m)end my soule into the hands of Almighty God my faithfull Creator the strength for my

8 redemption. And my body to the earth from whence it came to be buryed in christian buriall

9 at the discretion of my executor hereunder named. And as touching my worldly goods w(hi)ch

10 God of hid mircy hath bestowed upon me I will and dispose of as followeth. Inprimis

11 I give and bequeathe to my eldest sone Edmond Watts one shillinge Item I give to the

12 Church of Yately iiijd. Ite I give and bequeath to John Watts my sone, to Maria Boswell

13 my daughter to Alice Pullin my daughtor and to Clase Watts my daughter All that my Cottage

14 and brane, garden, and two plotts of land ther unto adioyninge conteyninge by estimation one acre of

15 ground be it more or less satuate lyinge and beinge in the tything of Cove w(i)thin the Parish of Yately

16 aforesayd w(i)th the apptenances onely unto the above mentioned house and land belonginge wh(ich) sayd

17 Cottage, barne, garden and two plotts of Land w(i)th apptenances as afores(ai)d I doe give and bequeath to

18 the sayd John Watts, Marie Boswell, Alice Pullin and Clase watts ioyntly and to their heires froever

19 Ite I give to my sone John all the paynted cloates, two sawes,benches and shelves w(hic)h now are in the

20 sayd Cottage at Cove. Ite I give to Marie Boswell my daughter one brass candlestick. Ite I

21 give and bequeath to Clase Watts my daughter Thirty shillings of Lawfull English money to be

22 payd to her by my executo(rs) out of my mooveables. Ite I make and exclaime my sone in lawe Arthur

23 Pullin my sole and onely Exexcuto(r) of this my last Will and Testament to whom I give all the

24 rest and residue of my goods Chattells ready money debts and other substance whatsoever

25 shall due possessed of and not before bequeathed he payeinge my debts and dishcharging

26 my leagacys and funerall expences. And I desire my good friend Nicholas Watts my brother

27 Thomas Pullin my neighbo(u)r to be Ov(er)seers hereof desiring them to see the same truly p(er)formed

28 and I give to each of them one shilling tor a remembrance. And lastly I revoake all former

29 will or wills by me made. In wittness whereof I have to this my last will set my hand

30 the day and yeare abovesayd.
