Ash Ranges: A history

An 18 page typescript A Brief History of Ash Ranges was prepared in 1984/85 by Mr J K (Kevin) Hill on the staff of the Senior Estate Surveyors, Ministry of Defence, Aldershot. He made a thorough research of his departmental records and local authority archives. Rob McGibbon of the Surrey Heathland Project has a copy of the document, and we are investigating copyright and permissions in order that we might add it to this website. The document contains much historical topographical information, a very complete history of the firing ranges, references to Ash pottery sites and intriguing references such as that to the purchase of common rights in 1877 "for the then considerable sum of £14,600".

RAF Hartford Bridge

The pages about RAF Hartford Bridge have been taken from the Yateley Society's exhibition for Local History Month in May 2004, entitled Yateley in World War 2
