1 In the Name of God Amen
2 the five and twentieth day of Jannuarie Anno Domini One Thousand Six
3 hundred fortie and eight I John Rogers alias Marner Senior of the
4 parish of Farnborough i the County of Southt Potter being weake and
5 sicke in bodie but perfect mind and memory praised be Almighty God
6 therefore do make and ordaine this my last will and testment in manner
7 and forme following First and principallye I comitt and Comend my Soule
8 into the hands of Almightie God my maker and the strength of my
9 redemption to be buried in christian buriall at the discretion of my Executors
10 hereunder named And as touching my worldly Goods which God of his
11 infinite Goodness hath bestowed upon mee I will and dispose as followeth
12 Imprimis I give and bequeath to the poore people of Farnborough ten shillings
13 Item I give to the reparations of the parish church of Farnborough Six
14 shillings and eight pence Item I give and bequeath to Richard Rogers alias
15 Marner my Sonn all that my cottage at Cove together with all my Freehold
16 Land thereunto belonging which I purchased of Edmund Watts to remaine
17 and be to him and his heires forever Item I give and bequeath to my sayd
18 Sonn Richard Rogers alias Marner all that my close of Free(hold crossed out) Land lyeing
19 and being in Cove aforesaid within the parish of Yateley in the County
20 of South aforesayd called and knowne by the name of Bottome Close
21 containing by estimatione three Acres of ground be it more or lesse to remaine
22 and be to him the sayd Richard and his heires forever Always provided that
23 the true meaning of this my last will and Testament is that the said
24 Richard Rogers alias Marner my sonn shall truly pay or cause to be payd
25 out of the sayd Bottom close unto Elizabeth Rogers alias Marner my daughter
26 fortye shillings of Lawful money of England yearly during her naturall
27 life to be payd quarterley by even amd equall portions vizt ten shillings
28 upon every quarter day usuallye in the yeare and to beguin payment the first
29 usuall quarter Day next ensueing after my decease to the sayd Elizabeth or her
30 Assignes And for neglect or default of payment as abovesayd or within ten daies
31 next following either quarter day being lawfully demanded then the said
32 Bottom Close to remaine and be to the sayd Elizabeth Rogers als Marner
33 my daughter during her naturall life Item I give and bequeath into Richard
34 Rogers alias Marner my Sonn twentye pounds of good and lawfull money of
35 England in Consideration of the true payment of the yearlie rent of forty
36 shillings abovesaid to Elizabeth my daughter Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Rogers
37 alias Marner my daughter twentye pounds of good and lawfull money of
38 England Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Mylton my daughter ten shillings
39 Item I give and bequeath unto Jane Chandler my daughter ten shillings Item I
40 and bequeath unto William Rogers alias Marner my grandchild four pounds
41 to be payed unto him when he shall accomplish the full age of twentye and
42 one years Item I give and bequeath to Henry Rogers alias Marner my Sonn
43 ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to John Rogers alias Marner my Sonn
44 fiftye pounds of goodes and lawful money of England to be payd unto him
45 upon his demand immediatelye after the decease of mee the sayd John Rogers
46 and Agnes my now wife And if hee shall depart this life before ## then my
47 Will is that the said fiftye pounds shall be equally devided betweene Henry
48 Rogers alias Marner William Rogers alias Marner Richard Rogers alias Marner
49 Mary Milton and Jane Chandler my grandchildren Item I make and
50 ordayne Agnes my dearest wife and William Rogers alias Marner ny Sonn
51 joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament to whome I give and
52 bequeath all that messuage or tenement called Streat House with all the
53 Landes and Tenements with the Appurtenances in Cove in the parish of
54 Yatley in the Countie of South which was mortgaged to mee by way
55 of Lease for the tearme of one thousand yeares by Henry Rogers alias
56 Marner by Indenture bearing Date the nyne and twentith day of
57 September in the two and twentith yeare of the Reigne of our
58 Souveraigne Lord King Charles for fourescore pounds principall money
59 which Messuage Lands and premisses are now forfeited to mee And if
60 in Case the said messuage and Lands shall be redeemed I alsoe
61 give the said money wherever it shall be redeemed to my said Executors
62 And likewise All the rest and residue of my Goodes Chattles readye Money
63 Debtes according to the true meaning of this my last Will and Testament
64 my Debyts Legacies and Funerall Expenses discharged Item I de make
65 and ordaine my loving brother Henry Rogers als Marner my brother
66 Richard Finch and William Chandler to be Overseers hereof And the
67 true meaning of this my last Will and Testament is that I doe hereby
68 Comitt and appoynt to the guidance and government of my Executors and
69 Overseers mominated in this my last will and Testament the twenty
70 pounds given to Elizabeth my daughter in this my last Will as also the
71 yearlye Rent of forty shillings to be whollye and onlye at their
72 disposing for the benefitt of Elizabeth my daughter And I give to every
73 one of my Overseers three Shillings and four pence for their paynes
74 and their Charges borne desiring them ti see my will truly performed
75 and Lastly I revoke all former Will and Wills by mee made In Witnesse
76 whereof I have to this my last will conteyning two Sheetes of paper
77 sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare abovesaid / John Rogers

80 This Will was proved at Westminster the seaven and twentith
81 day of September in the yeare of our Lord 1653 before the Judges for probate
82 of Wills and granting Administrations according to an Act of Parliament
83 entituled an Act for probate of Wills and granting of Administrations by
84 the Oath of William Rogers alias Marner the sonne and one of the
85 Executors named in the Will to whome the Administration was Comitted
86 of all and singular the Goods Chattles and Debts of the sayd deceased
87 they being first sworne truly to administer the same power being
88 reserved to Agnes Rogers alias Marner the Relict and other Executor to
89 make like probate when shee shall legally require the same
