1 In the name of god Amen. I Richard Taylor of Cove in

2 the p(ar)ish of Yately in the County of South Potter beinge sicke

3 & weake of Body but of good & perfecte memory (god be praised

4 for it ) doe make my last will & testament in man(n)er & forme

5 followinge vidzt ffirst I bequeath my soule unto my saviour

6 Jesus Christ w(i)ch dyed for to Redeeme me, & my body unto the

7 earth from whence it was taken: now Concerninge my worldly

8 goodes wherew(i)th god hath blessed me I bequeath as followeth first

9 I bequeath unto my sonne Robert Taylor fforty poundes out of the

10 house where in Mayses Terry now dwelleth w(hi)ch I would have to be

11 sold p(re)sently after my discease soo soone as a convenient Cheopman may be

12 found. It I give more unto my son(n)e Robert Taylor Two of my

13 best oxen & my best horse, Two of my best kyne, & half of the dead goodes

14 both w(i)thin doores & w(i)thout to be p(ar)ted by honest men Chosen by Consent of

15 both my sonnes, It I bequeath unto Joane Taylor my grandchild

16 one blacke heickfore Bullocke; It I bequeath unto Jane Reynolds five pounds

17 It I bequeath unto my sonne Roberts Two Sonnes Two Steare bullocks,

18 It I bequeath unto John Russell fforty shillings, & to William Bristowe

19 Twenty shillings, & unto Edward Harrison & Richard Westbrooke ten

20 shillings a peece, & unto Alice my mayde Ten shillings & unto geoddy

21 Bristow Ten shillings, all these legacies to be payed w(i)thin six monthes

22 after my discease It I give unto the poore in the Tythinge of Cove xs

23 It I doe will & bequeath unto my sonne Will(ia)m Taylor all my corne & grasse

24 & hay both w(i)thin doores & w(i)thout Towards maintayninge the house

25 & payinge my Rent; It I give more to my son(ne) Robert Taylor one heifer

26 bullocke of them that stand in the gate, It I give unto Joane Payne one small

27 heifer bullocke & fforty shillings in money: It my will is that yf there doe

28 arise any difference betweene my landlord & my exec the charge is to be borne

29 equally betweene my two sonnes, I make my sonne Will(ia)m Taylor sole execut(er) & I give unto him all my goodes unbequeathed, and

31 I doo intreate John ffinch son & Nicholas Stevens to be my overseers

32 I doo give them for their paines five shillings a peece. Wittnes my

33 hand & seale this one & twentith day of december 1649
