The names above are used consistently in official and property records (e.g. the Manor Court Records, Tithe Apportionment) of the same periods. (The one exception to this is the use of Hartford Bridge Flats as a residential location in the 1841 and 1851 censuses - unfortunately the corresponding locations cannot be determined with certainty.)

Informal Names

From the mid-C19, but more strongly in the 1920s and 1930s, the name Hartford Bridge Flats, which seems originally to have designated the highway between Blackwater and Hartfordbridge, was extended in its use to describe Yateley Common. Uses are found in Local Newspapers as well as being reported by older residents. The WW2 airfield was given that name: RAF Hartford Bridge Flats. Since WW2, use of that name has declined.

During the 1920s and 1930s o9lder residents report that Yateley Green was being called "Yateley Common".
