John Milkton appears in the Lay Subsidies for Farnborough starting in 1620. Two different people have transcribed his name as John Milton. I n the 1640 Lay Subsidy, two years after his death, the assessment in Farnborough for the £1 worth of lands has changed as due from Nicholas Milton. So the John Milton in the Lay Subsidy is undoubtedly the John Milkton entered on CALM, the on-line database of the Hampshire Record Office, as 1638B/55 Will and inventory of John Milkton (Mylkton) of Farnborough, Hampshire, potter 1638. This will has not yet been transcribed.
